Like a cat Lounging in a late afternoon sunbeam Posed upon the recliner Soaking up the warmth That radiates through my skin As a child I used to chase sunbeams Whilst the particles of dust danced within them And the colors of the rainbow that hung upon its edges I used to try and capture the sunbeam To reach out and touch them Not to capture or imprison But in order to communicate with them Like a cat Mesmerized by the beam Sensing within the unseen Like a cat Stretched out in the beam transformed perhaps a tad Awakening, like a child To the Warmth Coming into existence In the joy Stretching in the security Like a cat I lay and rest Content to be on the journey Content to be coming home (Tulip Days, June 2020-Februry 2021)
